Long Beach College Promise

The Long Beach College Promise is designed to improve college preparation, access and completion for members of the greater Long Beach Community.

The Long Beach College Promise began on March 20, 2008, when the leaders from the Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD), Long Beach City College (LBCC) and California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) signed the Long Beach College Promise, which provides a number of guarantees to help all local students prepare for, enter and succeed in college.

Each of the institutions provides significant programs and support to their students.  Taken together, these efforts comprise the College Promise.

The College Promise is the most recent and comprehensive project of the nationally recognized Seamless Education Partnership between the three institutions.

The Long Beach Seamless Education Partnership was launched in 1994 by local civic leaders to ensure that all students would progress smoothly through the education systems and into the workforce.  This partnership has accomplished much since its inception through close collaboration between LBUSD and the CSULB College of Education to improve the professional development of local teachers.

According to the Business Higher Education Forum, the Seamless Education Partnership “has become a defining feature of the community and a model for the nation.”  Download complete report (.pdf format)
